Information for Scholarship Applicants
We believe that education is not just about expanding knowledge and understanding; it is also about stimulating independent thought and critical analysis.
Our scholarships are transformative for individuals, families, and communities.
A high-quality education doesn’t just bring personal benefits - it’s the means by which a nation’s economy can grow, businesses can be developed, and the public good advanced through active citizenship.
How we define scholarships
We define scholarships as financial support that enables continued inclusion in education for those who otherwise face significant barriers of access. This may include but is not limited to: support for funding towards tuition; living; travel, subsistence; materials and any other areas essential to enabling access to education. We also provide welfare, pastoral and developmental support to scholars, for example developing leadership skills and values education, as a core element of all scholarships and ensure that appropriate support is provided as an intrinsic part of all scholarship programmes.
Through our scholarships, we aim to:
Provide international development support to the regions of Africa in which we work.
Increase gender equity through the provision of targeted educational opportunities for women and girls.
Provide opportunities for otherwise marginalised individuals, including but not limited to: refugees; Internally Displaced Persons, disabled persons; females; those from minority backgrounds.
Prepare students for transition into meaningful employment or entrepreneurial opportunities.
Develop sustainability and continuity of scholarship programmes through the involvement of alumni in developing programme direction.
Partner with educational institutions in the regions of Africa in which we work in a bid to enhance their capacity.
Develop needed technical and leadership capacity in our countries of operation.
